1. Agreement (Persetujuan)
Digunakan untuk menyatakan setuju dengan pendapat orang lain.
Ungkapan Agreement:

That’s right.

You’re absolutely right.

I think so too.

Exactly!
Contoh Dialog:
A: I think English is important.
B: Yes, I agree with you.
2. Disagreement (Ketidaksetujuan)
Digunakan untuk menyatakan tidak setuju dengan pendapat orang lain. Biasanya disampaikan dengan sopan.
Ungkapan Disagreement:

I don’t think so.

I’m afraid I disagree.

I’m not sure about that.
-
I disagree with you.
-
That’s not always true.
Contoh Dialog:
A: Watching TV is better than reading books.
B: I don’t think so. Reading is more useful.
3. Stating Purpose (Menyatakan Tujuan)
Digunakan untuk menjelaskan alasan atau tujuan melakukan sesuatu.
Pola Kalimat:

To + Basic Verb (can be used in both formal and informal context)

In order to + Basic Verb (formal, often used in written English)
so + a complete clause (informal context especially in spoke English)
so that + a clause (less formal than in order to, but is common in spoken and written English)

For the purpose of + V-ing → dengan tujuan …
Contoh Kalimat:
